H-Mart

H-Mart is the work that looks modest in a photograph and heavy on a spreadsheet: a multi-site grocery program, principal retail delivery, stores that have to feel like the same company whether they sit on Sarcee Trail or in a Victoria mall.

Beacon Hill in Calgary is the one on this page — exterior, seafood, grocery floor. The program also includes Edmonton Calgary Trail, Edmonton University, Calgary Downtown, Victoria Mayfair, Surrey, Tsawwassen, and Nanaimo.

A program like this fails in the variance. One store opens clean and the next inherits a different superintendent, a different millworker, a different idea of “done.” IBS exists so that does not happen. Same people. Same close-out. Two provinces.
